Packing Tips

Packing is an important part of any successful shipping job. No matter how expert the shippers are, they cannot ensure your items are safely shipped if they are poorly packed.

These are some of the essential tips on how you can properly pack your items for shipping:

Use the right type of box/packing container

You should use a box that’s durable enough to protect your items and and big enough to leave space for some protective material such as bubble wrap/foam. If you can buy/get new boxes that will be the best, but if you only have used ones, make sure you remove labels, details etc. and ensure they are still in usable. Heavy corrugated cardboard is recommended as the best packing box.

Protect and Pack:

Don’t forget to wrap/protect your items with some protective material! Wrap and pack the item tightly to avoid them shifting during transit, and make sure the bubble wrap/protective material covers all sides of the item. If you’re shipping several items together, wrap each one separately and add some foam to prevent movement. Great tip: the more protective  material the better.

Seal The Box:

After packing, gently shake the box to make sure nothing moves. If that’s the case, the box is reader to be sealed. For a strong seal, always use durable packing tape that is designed for shipping. Make sure you tape all over the box as this can provide another layer of protection against water/damage.

Label Your Boxes:

If you are moving house, label your boxes according to the room where the items should go at the destination is a commonly used method. If you are sending items long distance, label the boxes with the clear addresses of where they should be sent to. It’s also good to label 4 sides of the boxes in just case one side gets torn/damaged.
